Full - Time Employment Opportunity

 

Position: Firefighter and Apparatus Operator                          Pay Range ($43,286.40 – $48,697.20 DOQ)

 

The Sunset Harbor Zion Hill Volunteer Fire Department is taking applications for a full-time shift firefighter and driver-operator. We will take applications until 08:00 AM on June 15, 2024, or until the position is filled. The employee will work a 24-hour rotating shift as a firefighter and / or apparatus-operator. All full-time employees are expected to become apparatus operators if not already.

 

The ideal candidate will already possess all the following minimum credentials, all others will be considered based on the following conditions:

 

Firefighter Requirements (Minimum age of 18 years old)

 

• High school diploma or GED (Must possess before being considered for employment).

• Certified NC Firefighter.

• Certified NC Emergency Medical Technician Basic or ability to obtain within one year of date of hire.

• HAZMAT Operations / Level One Responder or ability to complete same within one year of date of hire.

• NIMS ICS 700, ICS 800, ICS 100, and ICS 200 or ability to obtain within one year of date of hire.

• Complete department interior firefighter in house training requirements through 1403 training program within ninety (90) days of date of hire.

• Must be in good physical condition and pass a medical physical.

• Must pass a drug screening (negative).

• Possess a valid NC driver’s license with no driving privilege restrictions (class C minimum, class B or A preferred).

• Must have a clean criminal background with no felonies.

• Minimum age of 18 years old.

 

Apparatus Operator (Minimum age of 21 years old to drive) All Firefighter requirements listed above plus the following.

 

• NC Driver- Operator Pumps Certification.

• NC Driver-Operator Pump Water Supply Certification.

• NC Driver-Operator Aerial Apparatus Operator Certification.

• NC Driver-Operator Emergency Vehicle Driver Certification.

• A valid NC class B or A License with no driving privilege restrictions.

• Complete in-house driver-operator training program within three (3) months of hire date.

• Obtain all NC Driver-Operator certifications listed above within one year of hire date if you do not already have them.
